May 2025 brings over 20 grant opportunities available to Canadian charities. From capital projects and community programs to environmental initiatives and youth services, a wide range of funding options are open this month.

Here’s what’s available this month:
Deadline: May 1, 2025
Description: Supports the delivery of community-based programs and collaborative initiatives, which contribute to the health, educational and recreational needs of children and youth who are living in low-income situations
Location: Calgary, AB
Amount: Up to $15,000
Deadline: May 1, 2025
Description: Funding to support a variety of community-led park and playground initiatives
Location: Calgary, AB
Amount: up to $50,000
Deadline: May 1, 2025
Description: Funding to support development of new amateur sport facilities, expanding or renovating existing facilities or for purchasing sport-related equipment.
Location: Calgary, AB
Amount: Up to $125,000
Deadline: May 1, 2025
Description: Funding to support registered charities with new initiatives/projects, enhancement of current program(s), and/or sound fiscal management and diversified sources of revenue.
Location: Central Okanagan
Amount: Up to $15,000 a year for two or three years
Deadline: May 2, 2025
Description: Funding to charitable organizations and qualified donees for capital campaigns and large capital projects where the request is greater than $100,000
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Deadline: May 2, 2025
Description: Funding to programming or projects with focus on Children & Youth; Hate, Gender-Based, and Family Violence
Location: Waterloo, ON
Deadline: May 8, 2025
Description: Have you ever wondered how you can show your appreciation for an amazing volunteer in your community? Canada’s Volunteer Awards, a comprehensive volunteer recognition program, is now accepting nominations in five categories and five regions of Canada. The recognition package for award recipients includes a $5,000 or $10,000 grant awarded to the nonprofit organization of the recipient’s choosing.

Description: Funding for youth, social services, health, education, social entrepreneurship, arts & culture, and environment.
Location: Quebec

Description: Funding for Projects where a professional artist (or artists) facilitates and supports the collective creation of new artwork in any discipline by community participants.
or Training of professional artists or community workers in Arts-Based Community Development processes.

Amount: Up to $25,000
Deadline: May 15, 2025
Description: Funding to upgrade, expand, purchase or build public-use community facilities.
Location: Alberta
Amount: up to $125,000

Description: Funding to new community-based programs, initiatives, events and publications.

Description: Funding for tree planting projects

Deadline: May 16, 2025
Description: Funding for eligible schools & organizations with future-ready programs that include both physical and digital curriculum, videos, tools, materials and resources designed to be used in a classroom or as an afterschool/camp program

Amount: Up to $20,000 per year
BC Rehab Foundation Deadline: May 16, 2025
Description: Funding to create opportunities for the full participation of people with physical disabilities.
Location: BC
Amount: Up to $5000
Deadline: May 16, 2025
Description: Funding to projects or endeavours in the following areas: Canadian Culture and Heritage, Education, Health and Well-Being, Social Services, Contemporary National Concerns (environment, parliamentary democracy, public affairs, and Indigenous concerns, amongst others)
Location: BC
Amount: Local Organizations: Up to $125,000 per year. Regional/Provincial Organizations: Up to $250,000 per year
Deadline: May 22, 2025
Description: The Sponsorship program supports new music-related projects which are not captured in other program mandates. These may include new and genre-specific music festivals, broadcaster conferences, artist development programs which expand participants’ opportunities in the music industry
Location: Canada wide
Amount: Up to $30,000
Deadline: May 25, 2025
Description: Funding to improve accessibility and inclusivity in existing child care programs in Alberta. Eligible activities include infrastructure improvements, such as wheelchair ramps, and the acquisition of inclusive equipment and resources.

Amount: Up to $20,000 per year
Deadline: May 26, 2025
Description: Funding for services and applied research to support first responders living with or at risk of post-traumatic stress injuries.
Location: Alberta
Amount: There is up to $1.5 million available for this grant program in 2025-26.
Deadline: May 30, 2025
Description: Funding for youth-owned and youth-led projects and proposals.
Location: Canada wide
Amount: Between $2,000 to $5,000

Description: Funding to help organizations develop or sustain sports and recreation programming for kids between the ages of 4-18 in financial need or youth with disabilities between the ages of 4-25.

Description: Funding to support Indigenous cultural, artistic, and educational activities

Description: Funding for infrastructure projects that foster active living
